Privacy Policy

This policy explains the limited information handled by Detroit Residents Directory and the choices available to visitors. The service is a private reference to Detroit and Michigan record sources. It does not require an account and does not keep a directory file about visitors.

Information You Submit

A name, phone number, or address entered into a search form is sent to the third-party provider that returns that search result. Our servers do not retain a copy of those queries. If you contact us, we receive the information in the message and use it to respond.

Automatically Collected Data

Routine hosting logs can include an IP address, browser information, pages requested, and timestamps. We review this data in aggregate to maintain the service and understand use of Detroit reference pages. Cookies or similar tools may enable basic analytics or advertising measurement where used.

How Information Is Used

Information supports operation, troubleshooting, traffic measurement, and improvements to the reference. We do not sell visitor lists or create individual visitor profiles.

External Websites

Detroit, Wayne County, Michigan, library, archive, and third-party links have their own privacy terms. Those terms govern information entered on their services, including the provider behind sponsored search results.

Service Providers and Disclosure

Hosting and support providers process logs on our behalf. Analytics or advertising partners may receive the automatic data described above. We disclose data only when valid legal process requires disclosure.

Safeguards

The reference uses an encrypted connection and retains logs only for the purposes stated here. Since there are no user accounts, we do not maintain visitor passwords or account profiles.

Visitors Under 18

This reference is intended for adults and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect a minor's personal information. Contact us if you believe a minor sent information, and we will delete it.

Your Information Choices

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to ask for access, correction, or deletion of personal data a website retains. Research for this project did not identify a comprehensive Michigan consumer data privacy statute in force; public records held by Michigan, Wayne County, or Detroit custodians are outside our control. Because we retain little, a request normally involves our contact mailbox and server logs. Use the Contact page to ask, and send a government-record request to its custodian.

Policy Changes

We will post a revised policy here when this policy changes. Continued use after posting reflects acceptance of the revised version.
